Van de Moosdijk scores 3rd place, Haarup in the top ten
In sunny Oss, Roan van de Moosdijk managed to take third place during the Grand Prix of the Netherlands. The 20-year-old rider crossed the finish line in third place on the 'De Witte Ruijsheuvel' circuit in the first round. Unfortunately, the Leatt-clad rider did not reach the finish line in the second heat. Mikkel Haarup had a strong day, the Dane finished eighth and ninth in the overall standings. Mathys Boisrame stayed outside the top ten in both rounds but remains fourth in the MX2 World Championship standings. The victory in Oss went to Jago Geerts, Maxime Renaux is the new leader in the standings!
1st Round
In training, Roan shows that he feels good on this circuit. Without taking much risk, the Brabander manages to set the second fastest time. The start is reasonable, but the jostling in the first corner at the top of the hill does him no favors. The Kawasaki rider manages to hold his own and starts the race in tenth place. Mikkel follows his teammate while Mathys is further in the backfield due to a fall. Roan dances around the fast track to finish the first lap in seventh place. The Eindhoven native rides very strongly and halfway through the heat he takes over second place. The leader, Geerts, already has a safe lead and he will not relinquish it. Jed Beaton has chased Roan on his way forward and with ten minutes to go he passes. Roan crosses the finish line in third place during this tough race. Mikkel seems to be winning a good fight for sixth place, but he makes a mistake. As a result, he loses two places, meaning he crosses the finish line in eighth. Boisrame works and fights for every point and he sees his efforts rewarded with twelfth place.
2st Round
When the starting gate drops for the second heat over 30 minutes and two laps, Mathys does quite well. The 22-year-old Frenchman comes out of the first corner seventh, while Roan and Mikkel are included in the midfield. Roan continues to work his way forward in the second round, just like in the first round, when disaster strikes. Arriving in twelfth place, he unfortunately falls silent. Mikkel takes over the position and then works his way into the top ten to finish ninth. The Danish rider managed to ride well into the top ten in both heats. Mathys is not feeling well in the race and although he puts up a lot of resistance, he loses a number of places. He is disappointed with eleventh place, but he remains fourth in the standings. Mikkel is doing good business there and rises to thirteenth place!
Next game:
The South Holland team now travels to the Czech Republic for the Grand Prix at the completely different Loket circuit. The competition will then follow in rapid succession because on August 1, the Belgian GP will be followed a week later by Latvia.
