Series for Elzinga, Lapucci strengthens EMX250 lead
Rick Elzinga (TBS Conversions KTM) underlined his ambition with his second series victory in the championship. The 19-year-old rider from Zenderen beat Nicholas Lapucci in the second heat in Lommel. The Italian strengthened his position in the standings thanks to a 1-2 score. A regular Liam Everts took P5 in the final standings thanks to a fourth place.
As usual, Lapucci piloted his Fantic Factory two-stroke to the holeshot. Elzinga, who did better this time than in the opener, however, wasted no time. He already overcame his Italian rival in the third round. Behind the leaders, Kevin Horgmo is doing well. The Norwegian would also finish third.
Loudly encouraged by the local crowd, Liam Everts makes the best of it in the initial phase. No cannon start for Liamski who advances from P9 to the front. The chasers are pushing hard with Florian Miot, Jorgen Matthias Talviku, Kjell Verbruggen and Liam Everts close together in the initial phase. Everts claims the 'best of the rest' title behind championship candidates Elzinga, Lapucci and Horgmo. All riders who are a lot older.
In the final score we find an excellent Marcel Conijn (7-6) in sixth place after Everts. After today, leader Lapucci is even more firmly in the saddle. After all, he leads with 26 points ahead of Kevin Horgmo. Lommel, the home race of his TBS Conversions KTM team, is also a successful operation for Elzinga. Rick moves from 5 to 3 in the standings, Liam Everts remains fourth.
