Prado wins, Gajser loses part of the lead
During the first four matches, Jorge Prado could not compete for the win. However, in Loket the Spaniard was the best rider, with a first and third place he won his fifth MXGP race. Teammate Antonio Cairoli (6-1) comes second ahead of Swiss Jeremy Seewer (5-2). By finishing both heats fourth, Glenn Coldenhoff finished fourth today during the Grand Prix of the Czech Republic. Tim Gajser remains in the lead in the standings, although Cairoli makes up twelve points today. The Slovenian finished second in the first moto, but due to a crash later in the day he only took six points in the second moto. Despite the failure in Russia, Cairoli is only eleven points behind the 'Redplate'.

From pole position, Prado starts very strongly and takes the best start ahead of Gajser and Ben Watson. Coldenhoff follows in fourth place ahead of Romain Febvre and we remember that image from last week in Oss! There are problems for Ivo Monticelli because he wants to leave too quickly, causing him to hit the starting gate. In the initial phase, Watson manages to take over second place from Gajser, who returns a little later. After 13 minutes of the race, Watson loses third place to teammate Coldenhoff and a little later Febvre also passes the Brit. The 2015 MXGP champion managed to pass Coldenhoff for third place well in the second half of the race. Coldenhoff finishes fourth despite Seewer's pressure. Jeremy Van Horebeek finished in seventh place, impressing with the Beta! After a poor start, Gebben-Van Venrooy rider Calvin Vlaanderen can still return to ninth place. His teammates Kevin Strijbos and Brent Van Doninck do not reach the finish. Rene de Jong succeeds, but he has to settle for 26th place.

The second heat is also the FOX Holeshot for Prado, but he sees Cairoli pass quickly. The Italian has already won a GP at this circuit four times, so he knows his way around. This is clearly visible because the 35-year-old rider controls the race. Prado will also have to make way for Seewer later, but third place is enough for the two-time GP winner at this circuit for today. Prado was already on the highest podium here in 2018 and 2019 and now again! Coldenhoff also crosses the finish line in fourth place in this round, meaning he is recovering well from his crash last week in Oss. Monticelli completes the top five and the Italian is very satisfied with that. Gajser started the race in fifth position and after passing Coldenhoff, the Honda rider tried to catch up with Seewer. However, this goes wrong and the reigning champion falls. He then has to make a pit stop, but he can continue to cross the finish line in 15th place. Van Horebeek now takes a great ninth place while De Jong crosses the finish line in 25th. Unfortunately, the Gebben-Van Venrooy Racing trio will certainly not finish the race. In fact, Van Doninck doesn't even start!
Next time:
From the heart of the circuit in Loket, the World Championship will come to the Lommel sandbox next week for the Belgian Grand Prix.
