Martin takes the double, Cooper the new leader
The sixth round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship 250MX has produced a sixth winner. Jeremy Martin won both heats at his parents' circuit. Michael Mosiman (3-2) finishes second ahead of Justin Cooper (2-3). Not a good race for Jett Lawrence, the Honda rider loses the lead in the standings to Cooper. The difference is only six points with six games left on the calendar!
1st heat:
Cooper comes out on top in the first heat, followed by a series of teammates and Maximus Vohland. In the first round Nath Thrasher gets into trouble and falls. Martin finishes the first lap behind Vohland but then climbs to second place. Michael Mosiman also manages to pass Vohland, after which the 'rookie' drops back to ninth place. Martin runs his own race and in the last minutes of the race the teammates come together. The first attack hits immediately and the local hero takes control! Martin wins ahead of Cooper and Mosiman. Jett Lawrence takes fourth place ahead of his big brother who won both heats last week.
2st heat:
Once again a lot of Star Racing-Yamaha in the leading group after the starting gate dropped for the second heat over 30 minutes and two laps. Martin now takes the lead ahead of Cooper and Austin Forkner who finally starts the race well. Mosiman follows in fourth place ahead of Garrett Marchbanks. Once again not a good start for the Lawrence brothers who have to work their way forward. This is also done by RJ Hampshire, who has passed Pierce Brown, but the GasGas rider does not give up. After almost 10 minutes they collide and Brown is on the track. Then he gets hit in front of Jett Lawrence and Jalek Swoll and Jarrett Frye go to the ground as well! 17-year-old Lawrence's Honda is damaged as a result, but he can continue. At the front, Martin has the race under control and he also wins the second heat to the delight of the crowd present. Just halfway through this race, Mosiman comes into second place at the expense of Cooper. He then no longer relinquishes third place. Forkner crosses the finish line in fourth ahead of Hunter and Jett Lawrence.
Next time:
The seventh race of the season will be held next week at the Washougal circuit.
