Ivano van Erp is in charge in Halle
By winning both heats, Ivano van Erp has won the second race of the KNMV Open Dutch Championship 125cc. The Brabander won ahead of Mirco ten Kate (2-4) and Bradley Mesters (5-2). The winner of the first competition, Scott Smulders, had a tough day at 'De Kappenbulten'. The Husqvarna rider did not get further than 18th place in the first moto and later in the day he dropped out.
1st heat:
Smulders starts the first round as leader, but the BT Racing driver then makes a mistake. Van Erp takes the lead and wins the heat. Mesters briefly holds second place, but the Brabander also makes a mistake, causing him to drop back to ninth place. Danny van den Bosse briefly holds second place, but Ten Kate is strong in the second half of the race. The Frenchman Xavier Cazal also passes the Motor2000 rider who crosses the finish line in fourth ahead of Mesters.
2st heat:
In the second round Van Erp is in the lead for the entire race. Mesters starts second but sees Smulders pass. In the third round he disappears from the competition and Mesters can regain second place. Sem de Lange, who did not finish in the first heat, now takes a nice third place ahead of Ten Kate and Van den Bosse.
