Guadagnini wins GP, Renaux narrowly remains the leader
After 15 years we see another Italian Grand Prix victory in the MX2 class at the Loket circuit. Mattia Guadagnini wins with a first and fifth place, the last time the 'Il Canto degli Italiani' was played here was in 2006. Then Davide Philippaerts won the GP without winning a round himself. Maxime Renaux (5-2) comes second ahead of his Yamaha colleague Thibault Benistant (9-1). Renaux remains the leader in the standings, only two points behind Guadagnini. Jago Geerts, last week's double winner, is sixth today and Kay de Wolf is good for eighth place. Roan van de Moosdijk only scores in the first round with an eighth place.

The sprint to the first corner seems to be won by Tom Vialle ahead of Jed Beaton. These riders go wide and Guadagnini goes inside and takes the FOX Holeshot Award! Vialle follows his KTM colleague ahead of Wilson Todd, Beaton and 17-year-old Adam Adamo! The battle for third place is between Australians Todd and Beaton and it is the Husqvarna rider who comes out of the first corner in third place. Guadagnini is in the lead at the front and he quickly manages to build up a lead of almost three seconds. The Italian cannot be caught back and he wins his third round of the season. Vialle impresses with a great second place ahead of Beaton. In the second laps Ruben Fernandez took fourth place from Todd. The 22-year-old Honda rider crosses the finish line in fourth place ahead of Renaux! The Frenchman has not had a good start but he is working extremely hard. Sixth place seems to be the maximum after a hard battle with teammate Benistant. Nothing could be further from the truth because the KEMEA driver managed to close his gap to De Wolf in the final phase. With some help from a straggler, Renaux managed to take fifth place. De Wolf takes sixth place ahead of Todd and Van de Moosdijk. Geerts trained the fastest, but he didn't get further than twelfth place!
2e some
Earlier in the day it rained briefly during the first round of the MXGP, but now drops are falling again. The start is important, but even more important under these circumstances! Benistant has understood this well and the reigning EMX250 champion takes the best start ahead of Rene Hofer, Renaux and Guadagnini. A number of riders crash in the first corner, including Vialle! In the first full lap, Renaux manages to get past the Austrian, but it is not possible to get Benistant back. In fact, the youngest Yamaha rider builds up a lead of up to 10 seconds. Renaux comes second ahead of Geerts! The Balenian started the heat in fifth place, but Fernandez passed by and made himself very wide. With ten minutes left on the clock, Geerts returns to fifth place and then passes the fallen Guadagnini and Hofer for third place. The Austrian crosses the finish line fourth ahead of Guadagnini. De Wolf takes ninth place while Van de Moosdijk does not finish. He is in sixth place but disappears from the race.
