Three World Cup heats per Sidecar GP in 2021!
Today it was announced that the Sidecarcross World Championship will have a different format in 2021. During each of the planned five Grand Prix, not two but three World Championship heats will be held in which points can be collected for the World Championship. The first World Cup heat will be held on Saturday afternoon, the other two as normal on Sunday. Qualifying on Saturday will therefore also be adjusted in format to make room for the first World Cup heat at the end of that day.
In 2021, Saturday will consist of one free training session per group, later followed by a qualifying training session. What was previously the pre-qualification now becomes the real qualification to achieve GP participation. The 12 fastest from each group advance. This is followed by the usual last-chance qualifying training in which the last six GP starts and the 1st and 2nd reserve teams are determined. Later on that Saturday, the first actual heat for the GP and World Championship points will follow. The other two will be held as usual on Sunday and the Sunday warm-up training will also continue. All three World Cup heats will take just thirty minutes plus 2 laps. In this way, in 2021, not ten but fifteen heats will be held for the World Championship Sidecar Cross in Lange (E), Jinin (CZ), Oss (NL), Rudersberg (D) and Kramolin (CZ).
