De Waal takes care of the Wilhelmus in Oss
Micha Boy de Waal carried the role of favorite with flying colours. The Husqvarna rider won both heats during the second race of the European Open Championship. On the completely renovated Oss circuit, Nicolas Dercourt (2-3) and Davide De Bortoli (4-2) stood next to the KNMV rider on the podium. Due to the absence of Filippo Zonta, De Bortoli is the new leader in the standings.

From pole position, De Waal makes the best start after which he manages to take control of the race. De Dycker can follow well for the first ten minutes, but he then comes under pressure from Dercourt. The French Honda rider takes over second place, but he never becomes dangerous for De Waal. De Dycker takes third place ahead of De Bortoli. The Honda rider spent the first half of the race chasing Jilani Cambré, but when he made a mistake the Honda rider came. He then also manages to pass Joel van Mechelen. Kay Ebben was in De Bortoli's wheel for the entire race and the Galvin MX Team rider managed to take a nice fifth place. Cambré also manages to pass Van Mechelen in the final phase, who therefore crosses the finish line in seventh place. Lars Greekpoor completes the top ten, the other Dutchmen in the points are Mike Bolink (12th), Nick Leerkes (14th), Kevin van Geldorp (15th) and Davey Janssen (16th). Thomas Vermijl also scores points by crossing the finish line in 18th.

The start of the second heat does not go well, but the restart is later successful. De Waal is the best starter, narrowly ahead of Simeo Ubach, Dercourt, De Bortoli and Simone Croci. The ColaGreen-supported rider immediately distances himself and manages to control the race without many risks. In the first lap De Bortoli worked his way up to second place and managed to hold onto this position until the checkered flag. Dercourt takes third place, making the Honda rider the new leader in the standings. Ubach has to fight for fourth place with Ebben. However, the Brabander makes a mistake and does not take over fourth place, but loses fifth place to Croci.
Next time:
The next match will not take long, the third match will be held next week in the Czech Republic.
