8 Belgians and 20 Dutch in EMX Open
Earlier this month, the European Open Championship started at the Maggiora circuit. This happened without defending champion Karel Kutsar and he will also be missing in Oss next weekend. The second match of the EMX Open will be held tomorrow (Saturday, July 17) at 'De Witte Ruijsheuvel'. We look ahead with eight Belgians behind the starting gate and no fewer than twenty Dutch!
The drivers will encounter a completely different circuit this weekend than during the first race. We can expect a number of other key players on the sand circuit. The favorite is Micha Boy de Waal who had the speed during the first race. However, the Husqvarna rider was unable to convert this into points. This former GP rider should be able to take the win.
The other KNMV riders are Erik de Bruyn (Laurense Motors-GasGas), Jordy van Orsowu, Joshua van der Linden, Kay Ebben (all Galvin MX Team), Davey Janssen (Team Gasdevil-Omnius Truckparts), Lars Looman, Mike van Kasteren , Kevin Buitenhuis (Buitenhuis Racing), Joel van Mechelen (Vd Velden Motoren), Jeroen Bussink, Lars Greekpoor (Team Greekpoor), John Cuppen (JTX Racing), Krijn van Vroenhoven, Wesley Schepers (SchepersRacing), Jaap Janssen, Mike Bolink ( WPM-KTM) and Nick Leerkes (Quality Racing).
Nine riders from the FMB-BMB will be in action because Kevin van Geldrop (Team VIP Lounge) is a Dutchman with a Belgian license. Jilani Cambré was particularly strong with a fifth place in Maggiora. The Belgian will have fellow countrymen at his side next Saturday with Ken de Dycker, Jonas Salaets and Thomas Vermijl. The other Belgians in action are Florent Rouyr, Florent Lambillon, Benoit Englebert and Ryan Bonnewijn.
The leader in the standings is Filippo Zonta, who has eight points ahead of the Frenchman Nicolas Dercourt. The Italian Davide De Bortoli occupies third place, ten points behind the leader. Cambre managed to score 29 points while De Waal did not get further than 13 points. The other Dutchmen in the points were Ebben, Van Geldrop and Leerkes. They all hope to significantly increase this points total in Oss.
