Webb, Musquin and Vohland on Pala
The Red Bull KTM Racing Team USA was also looking forward to the first round of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship. After all, the supercross season had gone well with victories for Cooper Webb and Marvin Musquin and the title for Webb. The first race of the 'Pro Nationals' went less well, here the drivers look back at the FOX Pala Raceway.
Cooper Webb:
“A tough day, that is clear with an eighth place in the daily rankings. The first heat went well for about 20 minutes and then I made a mistake that was immediately punished. The second round was also very good, but we are especially happy to be behind the starting gate again and to greet the fans next to the circuit. Now it is a matter of building up for the remaining 22 heats.”
Marvin Musquin:
“I knew the competition would be very strong and that a good start would be the key to success. The second qualifying was good and the starts were reasonable. In both motos my first lap was not good and I was not aggressive enough and made big mistakes. Then I had to fight back and that was disappointing on this circuit. I was in a duel with Tomac in both heats, which is normally good, but now we narrowly competed in the top ten! The results are not good, I have to do better, so let's do it again next weekend but better.”
Maximus Vohland:
“Overall today went very well. I got the holeshot in the first moto and was able to hold the lead for 23 minutes. Of course that was great. You learn a lot and riding at the front also gives you a lot of self-confidence! For my first National as a rookie, I think I performed very well today and I am now looking forward to the rest of the season.”
