VIP Lounge Team satisfied with their debut
The first match of the VIP Lounge Team 211 is finally a fact. Both riders of the Limburg team took action on the Arnhem circuit during the first race of the KNMV Open Dutch Championship. Romano Aspers managed to score 30 points, he crossed the finish line in eleventh place in the second heat. Kevin van Geldrop performed well in the 500cc class. With a fifteenth and seventeenth place, he became fourteenth in the daily rankings.
After almost two years, Romano was finally behind the starting gate again. This of course takes some getting used to because endless training cannot be compared to the adrenaline you feel with 45 riders next to you. The first heat starts well, but when pole starter Sydow makes a mistake, a massive crash follows. The KTM rider also gets involved, forcing him to give chase. In his haste, the 15-year-old student makes a mistake. However, after this crash the steering wheel is crooked and therefore a pit stop is necessary. The gap is significant, but it is important to keep driving. With lap times of the top 16, the Leatt-clad motocrosser is doing well. Unfortunately, with a 42nd place, he did not score. The start of the second heat is not very good, but fortunately everything stays on both wheels. From 23rd place, the Limburger fought back very well to cross the finish line in eleventh.
Kevin also takes action on the 1700 meter circuit. The Dutchman, who lives in Belgium, managed to cross the finish line in fifteenth place in the first heat. The second moto doesn't start well with a crash. The Yamaha rider has to fight back from the backfield. That works very well because Kevin comes back from 1rd place to seventeenth!
