Tom Vialle takes a convincing double
No one was a match for Tom Vialle today. The reigning world champion wins both heats during the first Grand Prix of the season. In Orlyonok Ruben Fernandez manages to take his first GP podium. The 22-year-old Spaniard finished second and third during the heats. Mathys Boisrame completes the podium, the F&H Kawasaki Racing Team rider finishes fourth and second. That is enough for third place in the daily rankings. Roan van de Moosdijk (3-5) finished fifth today and is therefore the best Laaglander. Jago Geerts (17-6) scores both rounds while Kay de Wolf only finishes in the points in the first round. The 16-year-old rider finished tenth in the first round.

Despite a lesser training time, it is Vialle who gets the best start. The Frenchman takes the lead ahead of Bastiaan Boegh-Damm, Fernandez, Van de Moosdijk, Boisrame and Jan Pancar. This Slovenian manages to blend in with the F&H riders for a while, causing the duo to miss the connection with the duo at the front. Fernandez manages to follow the reigning champion for the first five minutes, but later he distances himself. The Frenchman then works his way to a safe lead after which he controls the match. Fernandez drives a lonely race but his second place is never in danger. This also applies to Van de Moosdijk's third place. The Eindhove native manages to drive better lap times than Fernandez in the second half, but the Spaniard sees the danger in time. Boisrame briefly loses fourth place to Rene Hofer, but the Austrian can be overtaken. The Frenchman finished fourth ahead of the KTM rider who narrowly managed to avoid the clutches of Maxime Renaux. De Wolf sends his Husqvarna to an impressive tenth place while Geerts has to settle for 17th place.
2e some
Once again it is a KTM rider with the best start, Hofer taking the lead ahead of Vialle and Fernandez. The Spaniard is clearly having a bad time here and even manages to take over the lead for a while. Vialle comes back quickly, but the Honda rider passes again on the opening lap. Vialle will not let himself be passed and the winner of the first heat will emerge as the leader of the first round. Boisrame and Van de Moosdijk come out of the first round behind Hofer, so we see the same five key players. Not much happens in the first half of the match until Fernandez makes a mistake. This allows Hofer to pass and Boisrame to connect with Fernandez. With ten minutes to go, the 22-year-old Frenchman manages to take over third place from Fernandez. In the final phase, Boisrame manages to connect with second man Hofer. The 22-year-old Frenchman takes over second place and in the last lap Hofer also loses third place. Fernandez shows his muscles and passes the Austrian, which gives him second place in the daily rankings. Hofer finished fourth ahead of Van de Moosdijk and Geerts. De Wolf rides strongly and seems to be in seventh place, but he crashes and does not finish.
There will be no Grand Prix weekend this coming weekend, after which there will be six races in a row. Starting on June 26-27 with the British Grand Prix.
