TKO starts MXGP career in style
Since Arminas Jasikonis will not make his return until Matterley Basin, it was Thomas Kjer Olsen the only factory Husqvarna rider in Russia. However, the tall Dane made it clear in his MXGP debut that the 450cc engine fits him like a glove. With a 6th place, TKO made it clear that we can expect much more from him in the premier class.
Thanks to that excellent performance in Orlyonok, the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider confirmed the good impression he made during the preparation races. The five-time GP winner rode to eighth place in the first heat. Olsen crossed the line on the wheel of Brent Van Doninck.
Despite a small fall on the third lap, Thomas rode to 7th place in the restart. All in all, a very good debut in the premier class for TKO.
Thomas Where Olsen: “I was very happy with my first GP. Beforehand I didn't really know what to expect because MXGP is completely new to me and because the field is so strong. My goal was actually to reach the top 10, so to come sixth is really great! It took a while to find the right flow in the first moto, but I felt really good on the bike in the second moto. I also felt physically strong all day. In the second race I made a few mistakes, but I was still able to get back to seventh place. This result certainly gives confidence so early in the season. For the British GP we will continue to work as we were doing. In any case, I'm really looking forward to Matterley Basin.”
