Paul Jonass about his strong second heat
After being absent for more than a year, Pauls Jonass returned to the riders' quarters. The Latvian had problems during the first round, but later in the afternoon he made for happy faces at Standing Construct GasGas Racing. The former MX2 world champion looks back on his MXGP of Russia.
Paul's Jonass:
“It was really great to be back in the paddock and to compete again. It was my first time on the GasGas and it was really good but unfortunately not so good in the first heat. I crashed in the first corner and damaged my fuel tank, causing the bike to lose fuel while driving. I went into the pits and we decided not to continue because it would not have been safe. So this was not a good start to the championship, but everything went well in the second round. My GasGas starts perfectly from the starting plate and I was therefore able to start at the front and simply rode a flawless race. I could go a little faster, but this is only the first race and the track was very treacherous, so I didn't take any risks. The first race is over, 1 podium, now on to Matterley Basin for the second race of the championship."
