Kay de Wolf to Maggiora with confidence
During the British GP, Kay de Wolf rode in the points in both heats. The Husqvarna factory rider finished both motos in fifteenth place. After two GPs, the 16-year-old MX2 rookie is currently 16th in the standings. The difference with the 11th, Jago Geerts, is barely 10 points.
Although 'the Red Hurricane' had an eventful match in Matterley Basin, he once again showed his speed. In qualifying he set the 13th fastest time, in the second heat his times were comparable to those of the top 10.
Kay de Wolf was satisfied afterwards: “It is good to have added another GP to my total. I was happy with my riding, but a crash on the first lap of the first moto was really frustrating. After that I kept giving myself and fighting, so I crossed the finish line in 15th place. I was satisfied after that difficult initial phase.
In the second moto I collided with someone straight over the starting gate. I had to take my foot off the gas for a moment, so I ended up in the backfield. Now I did the same thing as during the first moto and that was to keep going. It was another long race, which was sometimes intense. Another fifteenth place was a pretty good result. My results were definitely better than expected, so this gives me a lot of confidence going into next weekend.”
