Herlings wins, Bogers makes his return
As expected, Jeffrey Herlings won the first race of the KNMV Open Dutch 500cc Championship in Arnhem. The Brabander managed to win both heats at the Motorsportpark Midden Gelderland ahead of Brian Bogers. The GasGas rider returns after surgery and is preparing for the upcoming Grand Prix after unfortunately missing Russia. Maxi Nagl completed the podium, the German finished fourth and third straight to the A50.

The sprint to the first corner is also won by the 26-year-old Brabander ahead of Nagl, Bogers, Cyril Genot and Rene de Jong. In the initial phase of the race, Bogers takes over second place, but the Standing Construct rider chooses his own pace. Herlings wins well ahead of Bogers and Genot crosses the finish line in third place. The German managed to hold on to third place for the first half of the race, but then the Belgian passed by. When the starting gate falls for the last time this Father's Day, Bogers will be the best starter. Herlings follows ahead of Nagl and Jasikonis. However, the Lithuanian makes a mistake, causing him to fall back and later disappear from the match. Bogers is able to hold the lead for almost ten minutes, but then Herlings passes by to take control of the match. Bogers comes second again this time ahead of Nagl. Genot narrowly started out in the top ten. The Sarholz rider can quickly move up to fourth place, but Nagl is already out of the picture. Tom Koch completes the top five this round. Micha Boy de Waal crashes in the first corner, the BT Racing rider returns to seventh place!
