Heavy crash for Scott Sheak
Bad news for Scott Sheak who we have seen in the past in the FIM world championship. The American suffered a serious crash during training at the Walden Motorcross Circuit. The 47-year-old rider was found unconscious, he had no heartbeat and was not breathing! Sheak went to the hospital where he had surgery on his neck. Last weekend he went under the knife again to stabilize his broken C7 vertebra. Sheak currently has no feeling due to the swelling and damage to his spine. It is currently too early to know whether the rider from New York will be permanently paralyzed.
Sheak rode for Team Honda USA in 1997 and subsequently competed for FMF Honda Racing and Team Pro Circuit-Kawasaki. In 2000 and 2001 he competed in the Grand Prix for Team Suzuki UK RHR and Team Honda Martin. His best season was 1997 when he finished sixth in the 125cc Supercross Series and third in the 125cc Pro Motocross Championship.
