Wilkinson/Cuche and Brown/Chamberlain both win at British Sidecar Cross Championship!
Wilkinson/Cuche and Brown/Chamberlain have balanced each other out in the first battle of the British Sidecarcross Championship. Both finished second once and both teams also won a round. The all-decisive third heat would never be held. Due to circumstances, it was no longer possible to guarantee that an ambulance would be ready and canceling the races that were still planned was the only correct decision.
In the first heat Wilkinson/Cuche took the holeshot. They battled with Brown/Chamberlain for almost the entire heat. So they entered the final round wheel to wheel. The crowd held their breath but no matter what Stuart Brown tried, Brett Wilkinson kept his cool in the British sun and won the 1st heat together with his Swiss baker Maxime Cuche! Brown/Chamberlain finished second at the finish and Jake Brown/Joe Millard finished third at a distance.
'Betty' Wilkinson also took the holeshot in the second heat, with Stuart Brown/Josh Chamberlain again on the ropes. Now Brown/Chamberlain quickly managed to take over the lead from Wilkinson/Cuche. Team Stuart Brown managed to maintain their first position all the way to the finish and thus won ahead of Wilkinson/Cuche who finished second at the finish. Neil Cambell/Ross Graham now finished third after dropping out earlier in the first heat. The roles were reversed with Jake Brown/Joe Millard, who dropped out in the 2nd heat after their third place earlier in the day.
The sidecar crossers were preparing for the all-decisive third heat in Dean More when it turned out that the heat would no longer be held at all. Due to a number of crashes in the youth quad class where even a helicopter was deployed for medical assistance, there was no longer an ambulance available on the circuit. As a result, there was no other option than to cancel the matches further.
