Plans for a new circuit in Courcelles are becoming more concrete
Last December we first heard that the municipality of Courcelles plans to build a motocross track on its territory. Five months later, the project is about to become a reality, which is good news for the many fans of motocross.
The motocross terrain would be located in the municipality of Gouy-lez-Piéton. The Walloon Minister of Sports Infrastructure Jean-Luc Crucke visited the place this morning. “I think it is essential that the Walloon Region provides itself with motocross infrastructure.“, said the minister. The location is in an agricultural area just before the Gouy-lez-Piéton exit, along the E42 and has many positive arguments for obtaining an environmental permit. The first house is only 700 meters from the hilly terrain.
This project aims to welcome motocross riders of all ages, on traditional or electric bikes, and also includes a development plan for the site itself. There will be a canteen, a public reception area, a parking lot and changing rooms. The local government is optimistic about this project and hopes that this solid dossier will become reality. If the project is successful, the motocross track could open in 2023.
