KTM celebrates fifth 450SX title in seven years
Nothing but happy faces at the Red Bull KTM Factory Team USA after the final in Salt Lake City. Cooper Webb not only won his second title, but it is also KTM's fifth title in seven years! Webb won the final and secured the title where Marvin Musquin completed the success by coming second.
Cooper Webb:
“It's been a damn hard year with everything going on in the world. We had to go very deep to ensure everything ran smoothly. Despite a difficult start, we have remained well on course. It has been an incredible journey, a hard-fought season with many tough games. But let's be honest, this is all worth it here! Being a two-time champion is incredible and winning tonight is the icing on the delicious cake. I am speechless, this is incredibly beautiful.”
Ian Harrison – Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team Manager:
“I think this season has been Cooper's strongest season ever. He won no fewer than eight matches, which is very impressive in this field. He keeps fighting until the checkered flag and that makes it extra nice. Continuing to fight has earned him many points. So many boys had to bow in the closing stages of the match. The first four games were difficult, but then he found the right groove and from the tenth game he is in charge. It was a really great season, and it was great to be a part of it. Our team, everyone involved, they all did exactly what was needed to accomplish this, so I'm super happy.”
Roger De Coster – Director of Motorsports, North America:
“There have been many great champions over the years, but when it comes to racing spirit and the truly deep desire to win, Cooper is special! He is really at the top then and even today when winning is not necessary at all. It was very impressive how he finished the season. The man has a big heart, he continues to impress me time and time again and I am truly grateful for that. I am also grateful for the people who make this possible, because of course the rider is a biggest factor in this sport, but it takes a lot to make this possible. The people in Austria, the people in Slovenia with Akrapovic and then all the people in the USA. Carlos (Cooper's mechanic) and so many other people who have something to do with this championship. I'm just grateful to still be a part of it and witness this amazing race.”
