How can Ken Roczen still win the title?
This weekend the final race of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship will be held in Salt Lake City. Cooper Web starts the 17th game of the season with a 22-point lead over Ken Roczen. How can the German still win the title? The Honda rider must win, but if the KTM rider finishes in the top 19 he is assured of his second title. Webb and Roczen then have the same number of points, but Webb has the most wins and is therefore the champion.
When Roczen crosses the finish line second, one point is sufficient for Webb, which means that places for the final are sufficient. If Roczen crosses the finish line in third place, the title will in any case go to Webb. If Webb does not qualify for the final, Roczen must cross the finish line first over second. So things must be very strange if Webb is not able to win the title in the Rice-Eccles Stadium.
As we know, anything can happen in motorsport. Should Webb fail to qualify for the finals next Saturday (which is extremely unlikely), Roczen will need to reach at least 2nd place to win the long-awaited World Championship title in the final race.
