VIDEO: A 250 CR1995 compared to a CRF450R
Dirt bikes are the subject of constant evolution. There are three milestones in history, each with a major leap in the techniques used.
The first big step came at the end of the 60s when the four-strokes were pushed aside by the lighter and faster two-strokes. The next revolution came in 1981 with the introduction of mono suspension, water cooling and disc brakes. Around the turn of the century, step three came with the four-strokes that took over from the two-strokes.
That's why it's fun to make a comparison of old and new. The comparison must be realistic and that is why the video goes back to a Honda CR250 from 1995. The machine has everything a good two-stroke should have, such as good steering characteristics, well-functioning upside-down suspension, a powerful engine block, a power valve and of course the usual disc brakes, mono suspension and liquid cooling. This old but still cool Honda is compared with a 450 Honda CRF2021R. The CRF of course has its qualities and is a powerhouse, but the test pilot's findings are surprising. Just watch.
