Bless Thrasher, Cooper is doing good business in Atlanta
The third race at the Atlanta Motor Speedway went well for the Star Racing Yamaha Team. Through the last chance, Nath Thrasher entered the final and managed to win. Teammate Justin Cooper finished second ahead of Seth Hammaker. Because Cameron McAdoo does not get further than thirteenth place, he loses many points in the title battle. Cooper has a 20 point lead over Hunter Lawrence and 22 over McAdoo with one match to go.
Just like the previous race, there is a red flag situation when McAdoo collides with a Husqvarna rider and falls. Several riders crash to the ground, including Chris Blose, and the race is stopped for him. Cooper also takes the best restart followed by Jalek Swoll and Thrasher who qualified for this final via the last chance. The Yamaha rider is able to quickly pass Swoll and when teammate Cooper makes a mistake, Thrasher takes the lead. He does not relinquish this and the 18-year-old rider takes his second victory of the season. Cooper finishes second ahead of Team Pro Circuit rider Seth Hammaker. Lawrence finishes fourth after crashing on the first lap. McAdoo makes a mistake, causing the Honda rider to also make a mistake and fall. Kyle Peters completed the top five while McAdoo did not get further than thirteenth place. In the early stages of the race he is in fifth place, but when Swoll and Hammaker collide in the battle for third place, it is McAdoo who falls. He hits his teammate's rear wheel, resulting in a crash. Not much later, Garrett Marchbanks attacks McAdoo and both fall.
In two weeks the final will be held in Salt Lake City with the famous East-West Shoot Out!
