Nate Thrasher surprises with the victory
After a two-week break, Nate Trasher has pulled off a surprise. The Yamaha rider has won round six of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship 250SX West Coast. In rainy Atlanta, Justin Cooper finished second ahead of title rival Cameron McAdoo. With seventh place, Hunter Lawrence seems to be in the title race, Cooper is four points ahead of McAdoo while the Australian follows 13 points behind the leader.
In the final, McAdoo takes the best start ahead of Trasher, Jerry Robin and the leader in the standings Cooper. Lawrence dives ahead of Cooper into the first corner but he crashes, forcing the Australian to give chase. Trasher quickly takes the lead and the 18-year-old rider comes out of the first round with a lead of more than four seconds. The Star Racing rider has won the 'Last Change' just before and he is going like a rocket. Every lap he manages to increase his lead and with that the rookie takes his first victory. Garrett Marchbanks has worked his way up to second place ahead of McAdoo in the first round. The Kawasaki rider's first attack goes wrong and he falls. With three laps to go the same thing happens to Marchbanks, giving Cooper second place. This makes it a double for Star Racing followed by McAdoo and his teammate Seth Hammaker. The top five is completed by Arenacross champion Kyle Peters.
The next race will be held very early on Wednesday and that race will again be at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.
