Enduro talent Erik Willems chooses Shot
Shot Race Gear is pleased to announce their collaboration with enduro talent Erik Willems (22). Willems, reigning French Junior E2 champion, successfully switched to enduro two years ago. For 2021, the Husqvarna BeLux rider wants to continue his progression in the FIM Junior Enduro world championship.
Although Erik started to make a name for himself in motocross - where he was good for two EMX300 podiums and bronze in the final standings of the EMX300 championship (2018) - he has focused entirely on enduro for several years now.
In his very first ISDE participation in 2019, the spectacular Belgian rode to an impressive 6th place in the junior class, while he finished 10th in E2 and 23rd in the 'scratch'. A double French success last year when he claimed both the overall French Junior Championship and the J2 title and promising results in the Junior Enduro World Championship strengthened his reputation.
Erik Willems: “I am very happy to be part of the Shot family. Shot is a brand that obviously needs no introduction in enduro! It's really cool to be part of this great tradition of Shot enduro riders. Just think of Pela Renet, Mathias Bellino, Graham Jarvis, Alfredo Gomez and now Billy Bolt. And like them, I'm also a long-time Husqvarna guy! I know I still have a long way to go to achieve my own ambitions, but I really feel like I am where I belong in enduro. It's hard, the days on the bike are long and challenging, but I love it! Of course, it is also motivating when you taste your first success in a new discipline. This year I am aiming for podium places in the junior World Championships and the Belgian enduro title in the Prestige class."
Ghislain Huot, CEO Shot Race Gear: "It is always exciting to discover new talent. Erik already has many ingredients to make it big in enduro and he is certainly an interesting rider to watch. The way he attacks makes him loved by the crowd! We think Erik has the potential to go far if he keeps pushing like he has done so far. Shot Race Gear is thrilled to be part of this amazing adventure and we can't wait to see what the future has in store for him. Good luck Erik!"
