BikeIt MTX Kawasaki confirms Taylor Hammal
Steve Dixon's Bike It MTX Kawasaki team will compete this year alongside Australian Wilson Todd (MX2) and WMX world champion Courntey Duncan with the young Brit Taylor Hammal. Hammal, who rode for Rob Hooper's official Yamaha UK team last year, is facing his first full season in the MX2 World Championship.
Dixon Racing Team, which will race under the name Bike It MTX Kawasaki in 2021, is pleased to announce the arrival of Taylor Hammal. 20-year-old Hammal is a local to the team as he lives just 5 minutes from the DRT base in Swanmore (Southampton). In addition to the MX2 World Championship, he will also compete in the Revo ACU British Motocross Championship.
Steve Dixon – Manager: “I am very pleased that Bike It and MTX are on board as title sponsors for 2021. Together with Kawasaki and our other loyal sponsors, this gives us
the possibility to conclude this agreement with Taylor Hammal. He will certainly compete in the GPs for the next two years, with an option for a third year. Both Courtney (Duncan) and Wilson (Todd) who both already have two-year contracts.
As I enter my 32nd GP season, it's great to have an English rider who only lives 5 minutes away! I needed the right time to give Taylor the right package so he can focus on his development as a rider. He has come this far on his own merit. My thanks to his family and more recently Rob Hooper's team. They have shown that there is a way to the top, even if you are just an ordinary worker who cannot finance a GP career. Now we have to see how the next two years go for Taylor, hopefully we can take him to the top too.”
