Here is the new MXGP calendar!
Rumors about a new calendar for the Motocross World Championship have been buzzing for a while. You can now find it below! After the World Championship opener on June 12 and 13, the 5th and 7th GP will take place in Oss and Lommel respectively.
Due to the global Covid-19 pandemic, it has been decided to postpone the start of the upcoming World Cup season. That will now start in Orlyonok with the MXGP of Russia on June 12 – 13.
The updated calendar also welcomes back the MXGP of Great Britain at Matterley Basin on June 26-27, followed by the MXGP of Italy at the legendary Maggiora circuit on July 3-4. The MXGP of Latvia, the MXGP of the Netherlands and the MXGP of the Czech Republic will follow in July, before heading to the deep sands of Lommel for the MXGP of Flanders in August.
The MXGP will then head to Sweden on August 14 and 15, followed by the MXGP of Finland and the MXGP of Turkey. The latest addition to the 2021 racing calendar is the MXGP of Sardinia, with the popular winter training center of Riola Sardo hosting round 11 of the World Championship with the EMX65 and EMX85 championship races on the same weekend.
The championship then continues with the MXGP of Germany, France, Spain, Portugal and Trentino in October, with a venue for the French GP to be confirmed shortly. The season will then conclude with three fly-away races, in Argentina on November 13 and 14, followed by the MXGP of Asia and Indonesia on November 27 and 28 and December 4 and 5.
As planned, the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations will take place on September 26. Infront Moto Racing confirmed Italy's Mantova as the new host of this top showdown.
The FIM-E Motocross of European Nations, scheduled for September 18 and 19, will also now go ahead as a TBA, with more details to be announced at a later date. Last year's competition format will also be used next season. This means that MXGP and MX2 will all run on Sunday and EMX and WMX will all run on Saturday. The decision to use a one-day formula was taken due to the tight race schedule, so that the riders and team staff have more time to recover.
Infront Moto Racing is hopeful that with the recent development of the vaccine, there will be an opportunity to finally welcome spectators back in the summer months, which is very important for our sport.
