Bihr acquires Race FX
Motorcycle accessory wholesaler Bihr just announced that they have acquired the British Race FX. As a result, Bihr wants to gain a greater foothold in the United Kingdom and guarantee a larger, faster distribution of products on British soil.
Bihr, Samantha Irwin and Paul Irwin announced yesterday that they have entered into and signed an agreement giving Bihr 100% ownership of Race FX. Race FX, based in Blackburn, is a leading B2B distributor of motorcycle Parts & Accessories and motorcycle clothing, with a focus on the off-road segment in the UK. A few years ago, Race FX was even active in the MXGP with its own team for which Shaun Simpson, among others, competed.
The aim of the transaction is to gain better access to the British off-road distribution market. In addition, the acquisition should complement Bihr's current status with MotoDirect as a specialist in the British street segment. Race FX will also act as a logistics platform to start the distribution of Bihr Parts & Accessories in the UK. This will start in the coming weeks.
“Race FX and Bihr fit seamlessly together,” says Paul Irwin, former owner of Race FX. “For example, Race FX and Bihr have a number of identical brands in their portfolios; Race FX for the UK and Bihr on the continent. Furthermore, this transaction enables full access to UK distribution channels in both the off-road and on-road segments. This is great news for our customers and suppliers and I am already looking forward to a busy and active year.”
“Welcoming Race FX to the Bihr group is a golden opportunity for us to make serious progress in our development in the UK,” added Christophe Piron, CEO of Bihr. “In addition to the 34 brands that Race FX and MotoDirect currently supply in the UK, Bihr's Brand & Product team has worked hard over the past year to manage the distribution of 150 additional brands in the UK.”
“We are absolutely thrilled to be partnering with Race FX,” said Terry Birtles, Country Manager of Bihr UK. “The company's expertise in Off-road clothing and Parts & Accessories is crucial to us. In the coming weeks we will be running the Blackburn warehouse to introduce the new items for the UK.” In terms of organisation, Paul Irwin has been appointed Off-Road Business Development Manager UK for Bihr. He will report to Terry Birtles.
