Jera Boelens is MCLB's pilot in the spotlight
The MCLB “Pilot in the spotlight” this time is a beautiful, sweet lady who has been bitten by the motocross bug. Her name? Jera Boelens. The 21-year-old Zelense would like to win the champion's jersey this year!
Jela will compete in the Ladies Open on a GasGas MC 125, but you could also know her as the girlfriend of Emilio Vannieuwenhuyze. Professionally, she works as a childcare worker and is also studying as a funerary worker.
However, we will let the F4E Racing Team driver tell her story herself.
“When I was younger I went to the cross country with my dad (ed. Bob Boelens). He is Frank Vander Haeghen's best friend and often supported him. Dad also had a motorbike himself at the time and would occasionally ride along for fun. In 2014 I started in the women's series at the VMCF. During the year I was asked to be co-pilot with Dylan Boussy and I did so. I finished the season as a co-pilot and left my bike aside until a women's series was created at the VJMO in 2015.
My best results at a glance:
In the 2015 season I missed the podium by one point. In 2016 I finished fourth again in the championship. In 2017 East Flemish champion and third in the Belgian Championship. In 2018 also third in the Belgian Championship, but unfortunately I was discharged in the final with a fibula and tibia fracture in both legs. As a result, I was unable to experience the celebration of my championship.
It is difficult for me to train with the motorcycle because of my busy job. My father also has little free time. Last year I tried to train a day almost every weekend, but I also had to recover from two injuries, which meant I had to start from scratch again. Sometimes I go running or cycling during the week as training.
This year I would like to be on the highest step in the final rankings of the Belgian Championship. Although an injury-free season with some nice podium finishes would also be nice! During these Corona times, I trained almost every weekend during the past season when we were not allowed to drive and if I am not driving myself, I go to my friend's. Unfortunately there isn't much to do for the rest...
I would like to thank my parents for all the wonderful opportunities they give me and for always believing in me. Of course, thanks also to Jimmy Verburgh for the opportunity I get within the F4E Racing Team. Furthermore, thanks to my loyal supporters The Wool Street Journal (Peter Slegers and Laila), Hein Vanhoutte and Ace & Dice. Also a big thank you to my friend Emilio Vannieuwenhuyze and his parents for everything. And don't forget my great supporters who are always on the sidelines to cheer me on.”
