Christian Craig hits back with victory
Christian Craig was supreme in the first game of the season. After that it became increasingly difficult for the Yamaha rider who saw Colt Nichols take over the redplate. During the sixth game of the season, Craig bounces back. In the Lucas Oil Stadium he took the lead from the first lap and took his second win of the season. Jo Shimoda scores a nice second place ahead of Nichols who crashed in the first round. The title battle will be between the Star Racing drivers, Nichols has a six-point lead over Craig.
In the final, Mitchell Oldenburg seems to get the best start, but Nichols slips in and takes the lead. Oldenburg follows ahead of Josh Osby, Shimoda and Craig who quickly passes the Japanese. In the first lap things go wrong with leader Nichols who crashes and miraculously is passed by everyone. Craig immediately takes advantage and comes out of the first round as the leader. He then drives a great race and takes his third victory ever. Shimoda quickly takes over second place from Oldenburg, who then comes under pressure from Jett Lawrence and Nichols. The leader in the standings rides very strongly and comes back to the Australian. This does not easily give in, causing Oldenburg to drop back to fifth place. In the final phase, Lawrence gets into trouble due to a straggler and Nichols takes over third place. A little later, Lawrence makes another mistake that takes him off the circuit. Oldenburg benefits and he finishes fourth ahead of Lawrence.
The championship continues next week in Orlando.
