WESS becomes FIM Hard Enduro World Championship!
The FIM and WESS have announced that they will join forces in 2021 to create a new FIM Hard Enduro World Championship that will run alongside the traditional Enduro World Championship.
In a statement issued a few days ago, the FIM said that the “World Enduro Super Series” will now be run under the FIM umbrella. The new name of the WESS will be “FIM Hard Enduro World Championship” and will start as such in 2021. WESS Promotion GmbH has signed a four-year contract with the FIM as promoters of the new series.
The move puts an end to the blurred lines of the previous WESS championship, which mixed enduro disciplines with events such as Erzberg and Romaniacs. The participation of amateur riders will continue to be assured in the future because it is precisely what gave the WESS events their unique status.
For the Pro riders participating, there will be a specific international regulation “in accordance with all international FIM standards, which provides the highest level of transparency and fairness to professional riders, teams and manufacturers who will compete for the title of FIM Hard Enduro world champion".
