Will the GP circus ever return to Valkenswaard?
The FIM Motocross World Championship and the Eurocircuit of Valkenswaard are inextricably linked. The championship was a guest on the Brabant circuit for many years. In 2005 and 2006 the circuit was missing from the calendar, but thanks to MXGP Valkenswaard it returned. It is unclear whether it will return again. The municipality and local residents are causing problems, it concerns permits and rules that are killing a tradition!
It is known that the Netherlands has not really supported their rich tradition in recent years. The track will be missed. After all, in 1990 it was my first Grand Prix that I consciously attended, the first GP with Dave Thorpe on the Kawasaki! I made my own GP debut in 1984 in Stevensbeek, I know that Dave Strijbos won his first GP there, but that's all. We also think back to the annual Christmas Cross and of course the first Grand Prix victory of Jeffrey Herlings in 2010!
It's a pity that there probably won't be any new memories, or would Maarten Roos manage to fight back to the highest level again?
