Romain Febvre wins first series in Pietramurata
With the very last MXGP of the year 2020, we had to wait and see how it would go. Jeremy Seewer was able to steal second place from Antonio Cairoli in the rankings, so a good start was necessary. However, the holeshot went to GasGas rider Ivo Monticelli, who followed Gajser, Seewer, Tonus and Febvre.
After three laps, Tim Gajser can take the lead from the Italian, who also has to deal with a strong driving Romain Febvre. The Frenchman had also taken pole in the morning and shows that he has plans. Febvre makes a good move and takes over the lead in lap six. Meanwhile, JM Honda rider Dylan Walsh had dropped out of the top ten to 21th place. Van Doninck and Lupino have to go to the pits at almost the same time with engine problems and give up.
With ten minutes of the race left, world champion Tim Gajser has stayed in the wake of Febvre and then makes some small mistakes that force him to lose the role in the last two laps. Romain Febvre wins the series ahead of Gajser and Seewer. The latter is doing well in his fight for second place in the standings because his teammates Paulin and Tonus manage to position themselves neatly between him and Cairoli.
