Clement Desalle about his podium finish in Arco
A special victory for Clement Desalle, the Kawasaki rider won another GP round after years and was able to climb onto the podium. De Waal stood next to Antonio Cairoli and Tim Gajser and here he talks about his match. Teammate Romain FEbvre also speaks after his crash in the first moto.
Clement Desalle: “It's a really nice moment. I kept believing in myself and back at the truck after the first moto I even told my team that I felt I could finish fourth or fifth. Mathematically, perhaps even the podium was possible. That second heat will remain in my memory for a long time. I had a good start in third. I was able to pass Toni in a corner and then Jeremy made a mistake and I went ahead. It's a feeling I haven't had in a long time, it was so much fun and I appreciate it. I took it lap by lap. In the beginning I made some mistakes in one sector. I didn't have a good line there at first, but I found a better one. After that I was very happy with my driving style. I found a good rhythm and stayed focused. Toni came back to me for a few laps but I went again and with a few laps to go I realized that maybe I could do it until the end. I gave what I had and I did it! I'm super happy, such a nice feeling. I will do the next two GPs race by race, but I definitely know what I can do and I would like to win another podium and another race. “
Romain Febvre: “It was not a good GP for me. The worst of the season even. On the first start I collided with another rider and someone hit my back. It is still very painful after the event. I crashed twice more during the race. At the start of the second heat, the rider next to me anticipated the start and that disrupted my concentration. I missed a good start but luckily I did a very good first lap to finish the race in sixth place. Now the goal is to recover from the crashes. I have bruises and I only have two days to recover.”
