Flemish corona measures: closure of motor sports grounds
New corona measures will come into effect in Flanders from this evening. These guidelines also affect motor sports areas. Since all sports facilities have to close their doors, the motor sports areas will also close.
In principle it is possible to make an exception for under-12 year olds. But first the area in question must be discussed. In addition, the circuit owner himself should also be prepared to open for a very small group. However, this is not very realistic in practice. A date when these measures will end has not yet been set.
Commenting on these new measures, Jef Leysen (MC Lille) said the following: “This morning we have been in consultation with Motorsport Vlaanderen. They have coordinated the options with Sport Vlaanderen, but the conclusion is that we also have to close. Opening the race especially for youth riders is not practically feasible. Together we face a difficult task and we also have to do our part as a sport.”
Recreational motorcycling on the road is still possible. From Friday you can ride in a maximum of groups of four! This is the number of permanent contacts you are allowed to have during periods of two weeks according to the ministerial decision. Four also serves as the standard for the ban on gatherings.
