Seewer crashes, Paulin satisfied after Mantova 2
Last Wednesday, two of the three factory riders from Louis Vosters' team were in action during the tenth Grand Prix of the season. Jeremy Seewer rode a strong first heat in which he finished second but did not lose sight of winner Prado. The Swiss made a mistake in the second moto, but fortunately without consequences. Gautier Paulin needs to score to be part of the MXGP in 2021. The Frenchman came second during the second heat, both tell their story here.
Jeremy Seewer: “It was a tough day. I started well and rode a high pace in the first moto which put me in second, but here we are now. I've been having a hard time in the second moto lately. I think I know what's causing it, but it's difficult to improve that in one day. I'm going to try to do better on Sunday. I crashed hard in the waves but luckily I didn't sustain any injuries. I didn't get anything out of it and that's positive. My bike flew over the fence and I lost a lot of time. This is part of racing because we almost always drive at the limit. Keep your head up, because on Sunday we have another competition here and there are still many competitions to be held. I'm glad I didn't drop out, that's the most important thing now."
Commentary Gautier Paulin: “In the timed training I had the third best time and this gave me a good starting place. In the first moto I got a bad start. I had wheelspin at the starting gate and this brought me back from afar to tenth place. I wasn't completely happy with my suspension and the track was very different from training. As a result, we made a number of adjustments for the second heat. Then I got a good start and was able to start the race in the leading group. I didn't expect to be able to overtake but I enjoyed being at the front. At one point I decided to push and set the fastest time of the moto. My rhythm was good and I finished in second place, close behind the winner. It was amazing. I liked it and I feel physically strong. Unfortunately I missed it in the first heat, but step by step the puzzle is starting to fit.
