Palsson takes the double, Van Erp in the leading role!
The last race of the European 125cc Championship was won by Max Palsson. The KTM rider managed to finish both heats as winner in Lommel. Palsson from Ljungbyhed (North-East of Malmo) almost finished third in the final standings, but Meico Vettik managed to avoid it. The Estonian finished second in both heats and therefore third in the final standings behind David Braceras. During the first heat, Andrea Bonacorsi (photo) had already finished third, which was enough for the 17-year-old rider from Bergamo to take the title.
Ivano van Erp had a particularly strong performance, the Yamaha rider finished seventh and sixth during both races. He was even in the lead for a long time during the last race of the day!

From pole position, Palsson starts very well and takes the lead with Smulders at his side. The Swede comes out of the second corner as the leader and he does not relinquish this position. Smulders sees Vettik pass and later Pietro Razzini, Romeo Karu and Bonacorsi follow. There is no problem for the leader in the standings because his rival David Braceras is currently far outside the points. Bonacorsi is in fourth place for the first half of the race and the first attack on compatriot Razzini is successful. With ten minutes left on the clock, Palsson made a mistake that sent him off the track. Vettik manages to overcome his 4-second deficit and moments later he attacks the leader. This is turned down and then distanced again. Palsson dominates the race and he takes his first moto win of the season. Vettik comes second and Bonacorsi celebrates the title with third place. Razzini comes fourth for Hakon Osterhagen. Van Erp crosses the finish line in seventh place while Smulders finishes tenth. Valk scores two points, but unfortunately the other Lowlanders do not score.

Van Erp's Yamaha takes off like an arrow from the bow when the starting gate goes down for the last time this season. Valerio Lata follows for Palsson while a number of riders go wrong in the first corner. Razzini is the first to fall and a large number of riders follow, such as Bonacorsi, Smulders and Pedersen. In the second laps Palsson takes over second place from Lata, but Van Erp already has a lead of more than three seconds. The Yamaha rider even manages to increase this to five seconds before making a mistake halfway through the race. Palsson is therefore offered the leadership on a piece of paper. The second round is also won by Palsson ahead of Vettik, who comes under pressure from Guillem Farres in the final phase. The Spaniard tries everything to take over second place, but without success. Quentin Marc Prugnieres crosses the finish line fourth for Osterhagen. Van Erp managed to impress after his slide by coming back to sixth place. Valk is now thirteenth, Karssemakers scores 17th despite problems in the first corner and Smulders takes the last point. Once again, the other Lowlanders do not reach the finish line.
The championship is over and despite the corona problems, Infront Moto Racing has still managed to organize nine races. In the eleventh season the title goes to Italy thanks to Bonacorsi and Fantic Racing. This is the third time that an Italian has won this championship. The first time was in 2011 with Simone Zecchini and last year Mattia Guadagnini won the championship.
