MC-E 5: the electric minicrosser from GasGas
Since the KTM group took over 60% of the shares of the Spanish motorcycle manufacturer GasGas, things have been going fast for the brand. Just like KTM and Husqvarna, GasGas is going to focus on electric motocross and they are doing this smartly by releasing motorcycles for beginners.
It is this generation that will grow up with electric motocross and will always be able to switch to heavier electric motocross bikes. Want to bet that KTM will release the equivalent of an 85cc machine within four years?
In any case, the electric minicrosser for 2021 is called MC-E 5 and, apart from a few dots and commas, it is a clone of the KTM and Husky. The MC-E 5 is a no-nonsense junior motocrosser that is super quiet and ideal for young people to learn to ride on. It is equipped with a fast-charging electric power pack and offers 6 different riding modes for full parental control. But make no mistake, the MC-E 5 is not a toy – it is a full-fledged competition bike for beginners and advanced riders alike.
This GasGas is easy to transport and has no emissions and almost no noise. With its super durable frame, premium WP suspension, overall lightweight construction, adjustable seat height and high-quality components, it's a bike that guarantees hours and hours of fun. Children want to be able to touch the ground with their feet, so the MC-E 5 is height adjustable from 616 mm to 665 mm. Furthermore, the height can still be determined by the settings of the front and rear suspension.
A super sturdy chromoly steel frame surrounds the 5kW motor. The frame is designed to provide just the right amount of flexibility and stiffness, ensuring stability, ease of use and cornering accuracy. The 5kW motor is super compact and has the perfect fit for the small chassis. The drive is also air-cooled, dust and water resistant and also wear-resistant and maintenance-free. The integrated control unit (ECU) guarantees direct, but highly controllable power delivery.
And then there is the so-called Control Center, a small box with lights that indicate in which mode you are driving. There are six different modes, for beginners to more experienced riders. But it also has to be safe, which is why the GASGAS MC-E 5 is equipped with a roll-over sensor that cuts power if a rider crashes or falls. With a cord on both the wrist and the motor, the motor is stopped if the rider falls. The customizable riding modes can also be set and saved with a dongle, preventing irritable racers from switching to a more powerful riding mode before they're ready!
