HRC Honda extends contracts for Gajser and Evans
Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) today announced that it has extended its contracts with Tim Gajser (24 years, Slovenia) and Mitchell Evans (21 years, Australia) for several years. Both riders currently compete for Team HRC in the MXGP.
After becoming MX2015 World Champion in 2, Tim Gajser came under the wing of the HRC factory team. In his first season in the premier class, Gajser immediately won the MXGP world title. He won his second MXGP title in 2019 and currently leads the championship.
Mitch Evans participated in the MX2019 Motocross World Championship for the first time in 2 and finished in a nice 11th place. In 2020 he joined Team HRC, he is currently 11th in the MXGP.
Tim Gajser: “I am very happy to extend my contract with Honda and Team HRC. I've been here for seven years and this team feels like a family to me, so I'm really happy to stay. We will continue to do our best and we are all looking forward to fighting for the title every time. I think this is the best place for me, especially on Honda CRF450RW. It is great to confirm our collaboration and continue this successful partnership.”
Mitch Evans: “I am very happy with this agreement. It now allows me to focus on the rest of the season and achieve the best possible results. It also gives me the opportunity to build for the future. I feel like we have already built a good relationship and I am excited to continue that. I want to continue to improve and work with this team. I feel that Team HRC has proven itself as the best team. For me, this is the place where I can fight for my dream, winning the world title.
Yoshishige nomura, HRC director: “I am very happy that Tim Gajser and Mitch Evans are staying with us in MXGP for next season. Due to COVID-19, an adjusted calendar will be completed this season, but Tim [Gajser] is fighting for the world title again and Mitch [Evans] is almost in the top 10. Team HRC and our riders will fight for the title and expectations next year of our fans. We look forward to your continued support!”
