Greek track strongest in Berghem sand.
Last weekend, Lars Greekpoor won the competition in the MX Open Inters class. At the circuit in Berghem, after a second place in the first heat, Greek Spoor managed to win the second heat. With third and second place in the heats, the second place went to René Albers. Kevin van Geldrop was third to take his bouquet of flowers and a cup with a fourth and third place in the heats.
In the MX 2 Nationals/Inters class, Youri van 't Ende faced little opposition and won both heats by a large margin. Michel Otten once again experienced setbacks in the run-up to this competition and was once again helped out by his sponsor Ecomaxx and with results. With fourth and second place in the heats, he was able to take the podium of honor as second. Wesley Verheyen returned home to Belgium with third place in the daily rankings. Leader in the standings at the MX 2 Inters/Nationals Jeremy Knuiman managed to record a third training time, but could not start due to a broken engine.
First heat
It was Jacky Tausch who was the fastest at the start. However, he was soon passed by Kay Ebben and Kevin van Geldrop. Tausch and Va Geldrop continued to clash. It was Van Geldrop who put his motorcycle on the inside of Tausch in such a way that both fell. Greekpoor, Mike van Kasteren, Albers and Arno van Tienen, among others, benefited from this and moved up one place. Greekpoor quickly found Ebben's rear wheel and both fighters stayed close together for a long time. Halfway through the heat, Van Tienen lost his place to Albers and Dylan van Veghel, who had now arrived in the top five. However, van Veghel ran into problems after this and fell outside the top five again. This meant that van Kasteren would come through in fourth place, but he was overtaken by van Geldrop who had now fought back. Ebben managed to accelerate in the final laps and drove away from Greek Spoor to end the heat victoriously. Well behind Greek Spoor, Albers crossed the finish line in third place ahead of van Geldrop and van Kasteren.
Second heat
It was now Albers who managed to get the holeshot ahead of Greekpoor, van Kasteren, Tausch and Mark Boot. For the winner of the first round Kay Ebben, the round ended before crossing the finish line. Ebben had hit a bump in the jump and dropped out. Greekpoor passed Albers on the first full lap and immediately took a small lead. Albers in turn quickly had a margin over van Kasteren behind him and van Geldrop had passed Tausch and Boot. After four laps, van Kasteren dropped out of the top five and it was Youri van 't Ende, who had now passed Boot and Tausch, who now came into fourth. Tausch had also seen Boot pass him by. However, Boot fell back behind Tausch during the heat. In the final phase of the heat, van 't Ende was passed by Tausch, but in the final lap van 't Ende managed to pass him again. Greek Spoor won the heat ahead of Albers and van Geldrop. With his fourth place, Van 't Ende was again by far the strongest in the MX 2 class and Tausch just managed to keep Van Veghel behind him, who had fought his way from the rear to sixth place.
