Glenn Coldenhoff needs to improve his starts!
The tenth Grand Prix of the season went well, but due to poor starts, Glenn Coldenhoff did not feel like he had gotten the most out of it. The Brabander tells his story here together with teammate Ivo Monticelli, who was satisfied with his performance in Mantova.
Glenn Coldenhoff:
“I felt pretty good in training and managed to set the fourth fastest time. I was satisfied with this and was looking forward to the first heat! I got a mediocre start and had to start the race outside the top ten. It took me a while to get into my rhythm. Because it is difficult to overtake here, it took time to overtake the riders in front of me and therefore the leaders were already far away. When I arrived in seventh place, I started running my own race. I was happy with my speed and finished seventh. In the second moto my start was a little better, I think around seventh place. It was immediately a big battle with the riders around me. We all had the same speed and just like in the first moto it was difficult to overtake. My riding was good today but my starts will have to be better to finish higher. I know what I have to work on because I really want more this weekend.”
Ivo Monticelli:
“Finally a good day for me. In the first moto I was in thirteenth place until I crashed briefly. I came fourteenth but I was happy with this. In the second moto I crashed at the start and was under my bike. From last place I came all the way back to thirteenth place and I am very happy with that. My lap times were good for the top ten and that gives me confidence for Sunday. Despite the crashes, I really enjoyed it today. I felt good on the bike and my speed and fitness are good. I'm looking forward to Sunday and the rest of the season.”
