Dale and Gregoire take the ONK titles!
Harry Dale and Dean Gregoire won the titles in the KNMV Open Dutch Youth Championship at 'Circuit De Vennebulten'. In Varsseveld Harry won both heats. The rider from Geldrop won the first round and was therefore assured of the title! Chento van Zoest finished ninth overall while Noam Mezzavilla finished the day in twelfth position.
50cc:
In training Van Hamond is slightly faster than Harry and during the first heat Van Hamond also takes the lead. Harry follows in second place and after the first passage he takes over the lead. The rider from Manchester then manages to gain a small lead and then expands it to almost six seconds. Harry manages to completely control the second heat. He takes the best start and leads the entire race. With six heat victories and three overall victories, the title belongs to the Briton. A special title for Team Youth Pro MX because Dean also won this title in the team's first season (2017).
65cc KW:
Two riders from Team Youth Pro MX will be in action in the 65cc KW. Noam starts very well in the first heat, but he crashes briefly. Chento is behind his teammate and fortunately is able to avoid him. The Limburger then managed to get into fifth place after two laps and never finished this position. The KTM rider rides a strong race and is rewarded with a large number of points. Noam manages to recover and the Belgian crosses the finish line in fifteenth. Both riders start the second round in the top ten. Chento moves from eighth to fourth place in two laps! Then unfortunately things go wrong on the circuit, which is becoming increasingly difficult due to rainfall. Due to the fall, Chento loses many places and crosses the finish line in fifteenth place. Noam fell outside the top ten in the first lap, but he recovered well and is now ninth.
65cc GW:
During the timed training, Dean immediately hands over his business card. Van Drunen manages to record a faster time and then Dean sits down again. He is the only driver who manages to stay under two minutes and thus takes pole. The start of the first heat is not very good, but from fourth place the Brabander takes the lead. He then no longer relinquishes this position. He steers his Vos Oss-KTM around the circuit with great determination and manages to win by almost ten seconds. This means that Dean is also certain of the title because the celebration is attended by a limited number of spectators, but the joy is no less.
During the second heat, Van Drunen takes the best start, but he makes a mistake in the two laps. Exactly one lap later, Dean makes a mistake and the brake line of the rear brake breaks. Fortunately, Dean can continue, but the circumstances make it very difficult. It started raining an hour before this heat and the circuit was getting harder and harder. The 10-year-old rider finishes the race and finishes third, which puts him in second place in the daily rankings.
Next time:
The season was short and intense, but the Youth Pro MX Team managed to win two titles. Due to the corona virus, everything turned out very differently than expected. We would like to thank our sponsors for their trust. In addition, a thank you to the KNMV and the organizers who managed to organize a championship despite the many rules and adjustments. A special achievement and not possible without the volunteers who care about our sport! Thank you everyone very much for this. The plans for 2021 will be announced as soon as possible.
