Lommel Circuit receives a new permit.
The Municipal Motocross Center in the Balendijk industrial zone in Lommel has been granted a new environmental permit for an indefinite period. In addition to Lille, Olmen and Genk, Lommel is one of the few licensed training areas in Flanders.
The imposed conditions will be regularly checked, says deputy Inge Moors. Since 1994, the management of the circuit has been assigned to a non-profit organization with representatives from the municipal council and members of the Lommel motocross associations. A maximum of 10 weekend events may take place per year. A limit is also imposed on the number of visitors due to the presence of two SEVESO companies in the area. If an MXoN were to be organized in Lommel, the maximum would be 30.000 spectators, during an MXGP this would be 15.000.
