Benistant records an important victory in Lommel
In the previous three matches, Thibault Benistant could not make a fist against Mattia Guadagnini. In Lommel the Frenchman managed to put everything right, the Yamaha rider won both heats during the tenth race of the European 250cc Championship. Guadagnini finished second in both heats and Hakon Fredriksen climbed onto the podium for the fourth time in five races. Kay de Wolf is very close to that podium spot, but Guadagini manages to pass the Brabander for second place in the last lap of the second round!

Despite less time training, Benistant managed to get off to a great start! The Frenchman takes the lead ahead of Marcel Conijn, Jorgen-Matthias Talviku, Gianluca Facchetti and De Wolf. Guadagnini starts eighth and he has to keep up the chase so as not to lose too many points. The Italian works his way forward and when he arrives in second place, Benistant has built up an eleven-second lead. For a moment it seems that the Husqvarna rider is going to close this gap, but the Hutten Metaal rider is going to accelerate so that he manages to keep the distance the same. The first round is won by Benistant ahead of Guadagini and the Norwegian Hakon Fredriksen. Talviku crosses the finish line in fourth place ahead of De Wolf, who made a mistake on the first lap, forcing him to chase. The Eersel native is coming back very strong and is therefore the best Dutchman. Conijn, who celebrated his 21st birthday earlier this week, crosses the finish line seventh ahead of Rick Elzinga. Twan van Essen managed to cross the finish line in thirteenth place, while Jens Walvoort (19th) and Kjeld Stuurman (20th) also managed to get into the points!

The first round did not start well for Guadagini, but in the second round the Maddii Racing rider is the best starter. He is followed by Talviku, Benistant, Tom Guyon and Oriol Oliver. Failed to finish the first heat in Facchetti and now the Italian made a mistake on the first lap. Benistant's teammate leaves the match not much later and therefore remains scoreless. Guadagnini seems to be taking control of the match, but then he makes a mistake! He dives into the sand and drops back to seventh place. Talviku takes the lead but Benistant immediately increases the pressure. With success because the former EMX125 champion manages to take over the lead. Just like in the first moto, he quickly builds up the decisive lead and Benistant also wins the second moto. Guadagnini comes second, but in the final phase he is passed three times by De Wolf. The Husqvarna riders make it very difficult for each other, but the Italian comes second ahead of the 16-year-old Negaan rider. Fredriksen crosses the finish line in fourth place, which gives the Norwegian third place in the daily rankings. Talviku finished fifth ahead of Conijn, who showed another great race with the Mulders Motoren-KTM. Elzinga now crosses the finish line in seventeenth and Van Essen takes three points by finishing eighteenth. The other Lowlanders do not score in this round.
The last match of the championship will be held next Tuesday, Benistant goes to this match in Lommel with a 24 point lead!
