Van den Boomen/van de Wielen strongest on the Witte Ruysheuvel
Last Sunday the second round was also on the program for the National Sidecar Championships. On the circuit 'De Witte Ruysheuvel' in Oss, the duo Jarno van den Boomen/Henry van de Wiel proved to be the strongest with a first and second place in the heats. Thom van de Lagemaat/Kayran de Graauw raced in the first round to catch up, which resulted in fourth place, and in the second round they managed to outsmart de Boomen/van der Wiel in the final laps, resulting in a second place in the daily rankings. Wilfred Vos/Wessel Susebeek achieved third place in the daily rankings with a second and a fourth place.
First heat
It was the 111 of van de Boomen/van de Wiel who immediately passed fast starters René Stalman/Lars Vos and took the lead. Behind this, the battle for the top five places was initially between Stalman/Vos, Kim Decock (Bel)/Peter Stadeus (Bel), Wilfred Vos/Wessel Susebeek and Durk-Jan Tjoelker/Ard Klein Nijenhuis. In the third lap it was Decock/Stadeus who took over second place and took a lead over the rest of this group. Meanwhile, the most stable duo of last season was Tjoelker/Klein Nijenhuis, who had to abandon the battle because Klein Nijenhuis had a stone over his eye, allowing Bjorn Ribbers/Niklas Hotze to briefly taste the pleasure of fifth place. One lap later they had to give it up again to an advancing van de Lagemaat/de Grauw. Stalman/Vos slowly but surely lost more and more ground and were passed by Vos/Susebeek. Decock/Stadues were also overtaken by Vos/Susebeek and in the penultimate lap Vos/Susebeek took over second place. Stalman/Vos continued to lose more and more ground and saw Ribbers/Hotze and Van de Lagemaat/de Grauw pass them by and subsequently lose their top five place. Everything happened far behind van den Boomen/van de Wiel and they won the heat with more than 34 seconds ahead of Vos/Susebeek. Decock/Stadues just managed to keep van de Lagemaat/de Grauw behind them to finish third. Aaron Bens/Joep van Leuken crowned a catch-up race with a fifth place in the heat by passing Ribbers/Hotze on the last lap.
Second heat
Van de Boomen/van de Wiel were now the fastest way ahead of Stalman/Vos, Ribbers/Hotze, Kevin van Vaerenberg (Bel)/Moreno Hoesen and van de Lagemaat/de Grauw. Van Vaerenberg/Hoesen quickly passed Stalman/Vos and Ribbers/Hotze to take over second place. However, they could not enjoy this for long. Van de Lagemaat/de Grauw did the same and then passed van Vaerenberg/Hoesen and started chasing van den Boomen/van de Wiel. Stalman/Vos also quickly saw van Vaerenberg/Hoesen, van der Veldt/van der Veldt and the Könst brothers pass them by. In the last lap it was van de Lagemaat/de Grauw who passed van den Boomen/van de Wiel among the stragglers to take the heat victory. Van Vaerenberg/Hoesen managed to stay somewhat close to the two leaders to finish third. Behind them, Ribbers/Hotze ran into problems and fell from fourth to tenth on the last lap. It was Vos/Susebeek who came from seventh on the last lap to cross the finish line in fourth ahead of Marco Könst/Robin Könst.
