RJ Hampshire takes victory in 250 class!
Today 'Red Bud 2' was held, it was a matter of seeing whether Dylan Ferrandis could make up some points on the brand new leader in the championship Jeremy Martin. In addition, we always look forward to the results of old acquaintances such as Jett and Hunter Lawrence, Darian Sanayei, Mitchell Harrison, Jo Shimoda, ...
In the first moto we saw Yamaha pilots Shane McElrath and Ty Masterpool get the best start. It was the latter who was quickly able to take the lead and drive away from the competition. This is due to the fact that he was the only one who managed to jump Larocco's Leap. The combination of the extremely lightly built Masterpool and the very strong Yamahas paid off. Behind him we saw a duel developing between RJ Hampshire and Shane McElrath. A match that was settled in favor of Shane McElrath. Title candidates Dylan Ferrandis and Jeremy Martin made a poor start and met each other halfway through the race... Dylan Ferrandis went on the attack and took down himself and his competitor. The Frenchman managed to resume the race fastest, while Jeremy Martin fell back to twelve place. This created an opportunity. The leader in the match Ty Masterpool crashed with ten minutes to go and saw a nice victory lost in this way. Shane McElrath moved into first place and cruised to the win ahead of RJ Hampshire and Jett Lawrence. Ty Masterpool ultimately finished fourth. This moto was not a high-flyer for the title candidates, with Dylan Ferrandis finishing in fifth place and Jeremy Martin who only managed to make up one more place after his crash and finished eleventh.
In the second moto we again saw a very fast Yamaha take the holeshot with Ty Masterpool. The youngster immediately went to work to build a gap on a well-started Jeremy Martin. The victor of the first round Shane McElrath now had a poorer start with a fourteenth place and Dylan Ferrandis was also able to start a catch-up race from twelve place. After about ten minutes of the match we saw Ty Masterpool make another mistake. Jeremy Martin took advantage of the mistake to climb into first place, and also finish in this position. Behind Jeremy Martin, Dylan Ferrandis fought back like a man possessed and he more than succeeded! The unleashed Frenchman even manages to take second place in the last lap, just ahead of RJ Hampshire, who only needs a second and third place to win the second AMA 250 Red Bud National of 2020. The top five was completed with Mitchell Harrison and Justin Cooper. Shane McElrath ultimately finishes tenth in this heat and Ty Masterpool thirteenth.
