Nikita Kucherov triumphs in Oss
Nikita Kucherov won the fourth race of the KNMV Open Dutch Championship 125cc under summer conditions. The Russian took the victory at 'De Witte Ruijsheuvel' in Oss with a third and first place. Scott Smulders (1-4) came second at Motorclub Oss ahead of Kay Karssemakers (2-3), who made his return after his hand injury.
1e some
Kucherov and Smulders dive into the first corner shoulder to shoulder. The Husqvarna rider takes the lead ahead of the Russian who also won a Dutch Masters of Motocross 85cc at this circuit. Karssemakers follows in third place and he immediately attacks Kucherov. This one is not easy to pass by and the rider from Herman Seesink's team holds on to second place until the last lap. When the stragglers arrive, Kucherov seems to take a decisive lead, but Karssemakers does not give up. In the last red, the rider from Boxtel strikes and takes over second place! Kucherov comes third ahead of Valk, who started in the middle of the pack. The TBS rider has quickly worked his way to the front, but when he arrives in fourth place, the top three have disappeared from view. Valk finished fourth ahead of Belarusian Daniel Volovich and the leader in the ONK, Sem de Lange, finished sixth.
2e some
Kucherov takes the best start in the second moto and manages to maintain this position until the checkered flag. Valk follows but attacking is not an option. Karssemakers has not had the best start, but the Yamaha rider has to work his way up from a place outside the top ten. The Boxtel native succeeds because he manages to cross the finish line in third place. Smulders finishes fourth and is therefore still second in the daily rankings after he was unstoppable in the first heat. Now Volovich completes the top five, followed by De Lange who is doing good business in the ONK with one match to go!
