Jeremy Van Horebeek French Elite MX1 Champion!
Due to World Championship obligations for Jeremy Van Horebeek (SR Honda Motoblouz), it seemed as if he would not be able to claim the French title. However, that was without taking into account the FFM rule that allows deletion results! 'The Jerre' is the French Elite MX1 champion of 2020 ahead of outgoing champion Maxime Desprey (GSM Dafy Michelin Yamaha).
Although Van Horebeek Castelnau missed the Levis, he certainly left his mark on the championship. Jeremy dominated the first round in Magescq and was the most regular today (2-2) in Rauville. For Desprey, who finished second today, the outcome of the championship was a cold shower.
Leader Maxime Desprey entered the final of the shortened 24MX Tour with a four-point lead over Milko Potisek. Consternation in the first corner as the championship leader coincides with Valentin Teillet, among others. That crash gave Pichon Zachary free rein for the holeshot. The son of two-time world champion Mickael Pichon is closely followed by Milko Potisek and Jeremy Van Horebeek.
Painful knee Van Horebeek
However, after ten minutes Zach makes a mistake, allowing Potisek to take the lead and finish the job. Van Horebeek comes second despite a stone hitting him hard on the knee and damaging his brace!
During a lap and a half, 'the Jerre' slows down and recovers at the end - with Soubeyras behind him. Although he had to continue without a front brake after his fall, Desprey still managed to finish fifth, after Soubeyras and Clermont, thanks to a strong catch-up race.
The fact that Desprey rode an impressive second heat in which he beat Van Horebeek by more than 13 seconds, was of no use. Van Horebeek received 24 points twice for his two missed heats in Castelnau. In any case, it was very difficult for the ex Gebben pilot to extend his title! Without elimination results he would have been champion ahead of Milko Potisek.
