Herlings also has 90 GP victories!
In Faenza Jeffrey Herlings booked his fourth Grand Prix victory of the season. The KTM rider is of course doing good business in the FIM MXGP world championship, but also in the record books. It is the 90th GP victory of the 25-year-old rider, who is equal to Antonio Cairoli! At the Crossodromo Monte Coralli, Jeremy Seewer comes second ahead of Antonio Cairoli. The Italian rises to second place in the championship, but he is already 60 points behind Herlings.

With the GasGas, Ivo Monticelli gets the best start ahead of Jorge Prado, Cairoli and Herlings. On the first lap Prado takes the lead but Monticelli comes back! When completing the first full lap it is still Prado for Herlings, Desalle, Cairoli and Seewer. When Cairoli takes over third place from Desalle it looks like it will be a KTM podium but Seewer has other plans. With five minutes to go, the foursome come together at the front and that is the sign for Herlings to accelerate. He passes Prado and breaks free. Seewer has displaced Cairoli from third place, but the Swiss no longer seems to be a threat to Prado. The MX2 world champion makes a mistake on the last lap and sees both Seewer and Cairoli pass. Prado crosses the finish line fourth ahead of Gautier Paulin. Glenn Coldenhoff is seventh and Desalle comes in eleventh. Calvin Vlaaderen scores in fourteenth place while Jeremy Vanhorebeek unfortunately does not finish. Brian Bogers will not play, he is banned from starting after a positive COVID-19 test!
2e some
The big surprise during the second round was Bogers, whose starting ban was lifted after the second test was found negative! The best start now goes to Prado, he is followed by KTM colleagues Herlings and Cairoli. Seewer follows in fourth place ahead of teammate Paulin. In the first lap Cairoli makes a mistake, losing places and seeing the Yamahas pass. With a lead of 1,3 seconds, Prado comes out of the first lap as the leader. Herlings and Seewer do not lose sight of the debutant in this class. Paulin loses fourth place when he crashes. With four minutes left on the clock, Herlings starts the attack and passes Prado. Seewer joins in, keeping things exciting until the finish. The Yamaha rider has to be satisfied with second place. Cairoli comes in third ahead of Romain Febvre and Tim Gajser. Coldenhoff is now good for eighth place and Vanhorebeek now scores twelfth. Desalle comes 16th and Flanders takes the last point.
This championship will continue next Wednesday, again at the Faenza circuit.
