Calvin Vlaanderen dominates in Oss
Completely according to expectations, Calvin Vlaanderen won the third race of the KNMV Open Dutch Championship 500cc. The Yamaha rider (photo) managed to win both heats on the Motorclub Oss circuit. The Yamaha success was completed by Nick Kouwenberg, the Elshouter finished second ahead of Greg Smets (3-5). The day did not go well for Micha Boy de Waal, he crashed in the timed training and hurt his thumb. The leader in the standings then no longer took action.
1e some
Smets takes off like an arrow from the bow when the starting gate at the bottom of 'De Witte Ruijsheuvel' goes down. The Belgian takes the lead and is allowed to set the pace. Flanders started the race just outside the top five, but he worked his way into the lead in three laps and then never relinquished it. Smets comes second ahead of Kouwenberg, who sees Yamaha colleague Todd Kellett disappear from the race after more than 20 minutes of racing. Kay Ebben crosses the finish line fourth ahead of Rene de Jong.
2e some
The final heat is now dominated by Flanders from the first round. He leads the entire race and wins by 92 seconds. Kouwenberg is now second ahead of Lars Greekpoor. Kevin van Geldrop has been in fourth place for a long time, but in the final phase he has to bow to Ebben and in the last lap to Smets.
